Minella Melody runs out impressive winner of Gowran p2p Bumper

Having won a four-year-old mares’ maiden in December, Minella Melody maintained her unbeaten record when taking the Best Of Luck Ballyhale Shamrocks Point-To-Point Flat Race at Gowran Park on Saturday.

The €65,000 Tattersalls Derby Sale graduate is yet another winner to come from the John Nallen academy, having been sold privately following a very impressive debut at Boulta last Autumn when ridden by Johnny Barry.

The daughter of Flemensfirth was completing a ‘one-three’ in the race for Henry De Bromhead as the Waterford trainer also saddled Full Time Score to finish third here.

The winning five-year-old was settled in mid division for much of the race before cruising through to pick up the advantage turning-in.

From here the Kenneth Alexander-owned mare showed a nice turn of foot in the 2m2f contest, pulling clear under Patrick Mullins, recording an easy 12-length success. Miss Pernickety came home in second under Jamie Codd for Sarah and Joseph O’Brien.
