Axxos Latest Addition at Coolagown Stud

"Axxos, a Group 2-winning son of Monsun, has been snapped up to stand at David Stacks Coolagown Stud"

Axxos, a Group 2-winning son of Monsun, has been snapped up to stand at David Stack's Coolagown Stud in County Cork in a deal brokered by French based agent Richard Venn.

From small numbers covered in France, Axxos is already the sire of the Nigel Twiston Davies-trained Listed hurdle winner and Grade 2-placed chaser Calett Mad and the useful French performers Epine Noire, Regaxos and Treizor Du Pilori.

The Monsun sire-line has taken jumps breeding by storm, and is responsible for Cheltenham Festival legends Annie Power and Sprinter Sacre as well as this year's Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris winner On The Go.
Axxos is from a strong German family, he is out of a Rainbow Quest mare and hails from the family of Group 1 Prix du Cadran hero Altano, German Oaks third Adoya and Australian Group 1 second Araldo.

He won the Group 2 Oppenheim Union-Rennen and finished second to fellow Coolagown sire Zambezi Sun in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris at three. At four he landed the Group 3 Premio Ambrosiano.

Coolagown Stud manager David Stack said: “Axxos is a fine stamp of a horse, standing 16.1 hands, and I'm convinced breeders will fall in love with him when they see him, he also has a wonderful temperament.  Richard Venn had been following him for a while, as he was based in small stud very near his French home.  He felt that he was under the radar, despite having sired 50 plus winners.  He told me that he had seen plenty of nice foals by him out in the country.”

“He has sired lots of smart performers despite limited chances and is an excellent outcross for Sadler's Wells-line mares.”

Axxos will stand at a fee of €2,500 live foal, with a concession for fillies
