Another success for Diamond Boy's progeny

Kilbarry Lodge stud’s resident stallion Diamond Boy (pictured) sired another winner in his native France on Friday July 27th, when Ch'Ti Diamond won at Les Sables D'Olonne on her second start.

The three-year-old reversed the placing with the Macaire-trained Fusil Raffles whom she finished third behind on debut two weeks previous.

Diamond Boy has had three point-to-point runners to date, one of which was a winner when the Gigginstown House stud-owned Valdieu won the four-year-old maiden at The Pigeons in March, 2017. Now trained by Noel Meade, Valdieu has since placed second on two occasions in bumpers at Navan and Punchestown.

A winner last season by Diamond Boy includes the Gordon Elliot-trained Diamond Turf who was a faller at Horse and Jockey last March before finishing third at Limerick in December on his bumper debut and followed this run up with a nine length win in a bumper at Navan in January.

Other performers on the track by Diamond Boy include Grade 3 hurdle winner, Don’t Hesitate, Le Precieux, and the Grade 3 placed Viola St Goustan.

His stock have been bought by names such as Liss House and Lakefield Farm, Mount Eaton, Monamore stables and Bobby O’Ryan. At the Goffs Landrover Sales this year, Gordon Elliott & Aidan O'Ryan bought a three-year-old gelding by the up-and-coming sire for €75,000. At this year's edition of the Tattersalls Derby Sale Lulham Bloodsotck acquired a well bred son for €80,000.

A son of Mansonnien, Diamond Boy is a half-brother to the three-time Grade 1 winner, Golden Silver and won five races for Francois Doumen as well as being placed on a further four starts ranging from a mile and four to a mile and seven.

Diamond Boy retired to stud in France in 2012.
