WEEKEND PREVIEW: Portrush (Saturday)

Race 1: Dennison Commercials Ltd 4yo Maiden

ONTHEFRONTFOOT chased home the above average looking Story Of Friends at Loughrea earlier in the month, and he could be the one to follow here with a repeat of that run. His twice-placed stable companion On The Slopes has plenty of experience, as too does recent Necarne-second Our Bubba, who has finished placed in each of his last two outings. Dawstown-fourth Flaming Glory is another expected to improve for his debut.

Race 2: Albert Bartlett 5yo Geldings Maiden

NOFLASHBACK returned to the promise of his Turtulla debut when chasing home the very smart looking Notebook at Dromahane last Sunday, and he would seem to bring the strongest form into what looks an open race. Great Fairy ran well in a four-year-old maiden during the autumn at Rathcannon and could improve on his return from a mid-season break, whilst No Code travelled well for a long way at Oldcastle last Sunday and may step-up from his first completed effort.

Race 3: Porter & Co 5yo Mares Maiden

LIVELY BEAT is a well-bred daughter of Beat Hollow who stayed-on strongly to finish third behind a much thought of winner in a competitive heat at Bartlemy. That debut effort would leave her as the undoubted one to beat. Her stable companion Hello Pilgrim ran well at Stradbally against geldings last time but must step out of hunt company here, and so it is Oscar Light who could provide the stiffest opposition. She has been well-supported on each of her two outings between the flags, with her latest effort an improved showing where she was set to go close before crashing out at the last.

Race 4: Kellys.com, Portrush Open

VINNIE LUCK has thrived this spring and will go in search of a fourth win on the bounce here following an impressive victory at Necarne last weekend when he beat a field full of last time out winners. His stable companions Eddies Miracle and Sambremont are capable in their own right, whilst another of last weeks Necarne victors, Cavite Beta, is sure to provide a big challenge having himself now won twice on the bounce. The returning Art Of Logistics ran some good races last season and is capable of a big run.

Race 5: Royal Court Hotel Winners Of Two

STAROZOV beat a subsequent track winner when winning his four-year-old maiden at Kinsale at the first time of asking last June, and this could be the first time that he has encountered similar ground conditions. The mare Cubanera beat Taylorstown winner Spuds Trouble at Bellurgan Park last month and has been in good form of late, whilst the lightly raced Lorenzo, a debut Kirkistown maiden winner, has changed yards since running in a Perth maiden hurdle and is now with Sean McParlan.

Race 6: Diamond Sawmills & McNultys Fish & Chip Shop 6yo Geldings Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

A tricky concluder where DERSUMTHINGABOUTHIM makes his return between the flags following three runs over hurdles during the summer. His sole previous point-to-point effort at Ballingarry last June saw him finish fourth in a race that is working out quite well, having produced four subsequent winners, and so he could be the one to side with here. Drumconnor will need to bounce back from his fifth at Necarne to follow in the footsteps of his siblings Drumconnor Girl and Drumconnor Lad by winning a point, and he finished just half-a-length behind the potentially re-opposing Jet Ranger before that at Largy.
