PRESIDENT MICHAEL D. HIGGINS to attend Liscarroll point-to-point this Sunday

PRESIDENT OF IRELAND, MICHAEL D. HIGGINS will be in attendance at the annual point-to-point fixture at Liscarroll on Sunday next.

PRESIDENT HIGGINS has close ties with Liscarroll and has family who reside in the area.

Siobhan Madden, Hon Secretary of the Club is looking forward to the event and outlines that Sunday’s fixture will be special.

‘It is an enormous honour and privilege for the Club, the community and the industry – its been a busy week of preparation.  Course preparation is complete, marquees are in place, traffic plans in place, volunteers and stewards knowing the timetable for the visit, special presentations and photographs etc,.

PRESIDENT HIGGINS will partake in the presentation of silverware to winning connections and hopefully will enjoy meeting with new and old friends during the day.

There is much excitement in the Community – I have noticed walls and pillars getting facelifts!

Our 2017 fixture was a fantastic day and Sunday promises to be just as good.  Last year, the Club celebrated the life of the late great Dr. M.V. O’Brien who was born in the parish one hundred years earlier.

Liscarroll graduates have been high achievers and without doubt the star performer is none other than the great ‘DENMAN’. The prolific winner was trained locally by Adrian Maguire and ridden by Colman Sweeney when enjoying his only ever point-to-point appearance.

Children are well catered for in Liscarroll with a designated zone offering lots of activities.  Bouncy castles, face-painting and a mobile pet farm are just some of the attractions on offer.  All children’s activities are FREE
.
All roads lead to Liscarroll on Sunday when proceedings get underway at 2pm.’
