Irish point-to-points received some very welcome national coverage on Saturday morning as it featured on RTÉ Radio 1’s popular country life programme, Countrywide.
As part of the feature, reporter Suzanne Campbell travelled to the Dowth Hall point-to-point last month which attracted a crowd of over 6,000 spectators for the point-to-point and country fair.
Commentator Richard Pugh provided a background of point-to-pointing and spoke of the attractions that the sport offered, jockey Timmy Love and trainer Dot Love, who ran Thinkininmysleep in the older maiden and finished a close second behind Star Wizzard, spoke about their thoughts on the day, whilst Suzanne also spoke with Julie McDonald, who rode in the pony club race which took place at the end of the day.
