TRACK GUIDE

Lemonfield is a highly regarded venue that has hosted point-to-point racing since 1999, where the runners start beside the final fence, and with just one obstacle being jumped in the home straight, there is a long run to the opening fence.

There is a slight descent into the bend out of the home straight, before the runners take a short straight along the side of the course where fence one is located. Climbing into the back straight, there are two fences to be jumped, with a slight drop after the first. Turning into the side of the course, fence four is positioned on this short straight that brings the runners back to the home straight. There is a nice run to the final fence before the runners make their way up the run-in.

The three-time Grade 1 winner Last Instalment, Cheltenham Festival winners Shattered Love, Drombeag, Copper Bleu and Any Currency, Grade 2 winner Mossbank, Grade 3 winner Gunther McBride, Paddy Power Chase winner Minella Foru, and Listed winner Posh Trish, have all won their maidens at the Limerick course.

JOHN BARRY

Lemonfield is a lovely big track. It has a very good reputation for producing a lot of good horses.

It takes a good bit of getting because the ground can be on the softer side with the time of the year that they run, but it is a very fair course and you can ride your race how you find it.
