TRACK GUIDE

A new course to the calendar in 2020 following 35 years at the long-standing venue of Killeagh, Carrigarostig is a galloping track with a short uphill run-in that is somewhat unusual in that all five fences are jumped relatively quickly on one half of the track, with a long gallop on the flat along the bottom of the course.

Starting in-line with the winning post, runners complete three full circuits with a nice run to the opening fence which is the last of the fences positioned in the home straight. After turning quite sharply right handed, fence two is jumped before another turn to fence three.

It is after jumping the third fence that there is that extended run on the level of approximately half-a-mile without jumping a fence, which includes a descent to the bottom bend and continues all the way until returning to the home straight.

From the home bend the track begins to climb slightly, with a relatively short gap between the final two fences and short, steep climb to the winning post from the back of the last.
