Point-to-Point racing was introduced to Ballinaboola in 2011 as the Wexford Foxhounds` new location making it one of the more recent additions to the fixture list, and its arrival has certainly been warmly welcomed by riders and handlers alike.

A very fair track of two long straights with two gentle left-handed bends, there are five fences on each circuit which measures a mile a lap.

Races commence alongside the final fence with a long run on the level before the runners rise at fence one which is taken after the left-handed bend into the back straight. The two fences along the back come up within the first half of the straight, ensuring there is an extended run on the level before reaching the three fences in the home straight.

From the back of fence two, there is a gentle decline to the bottom bend, before the runners climb gently up the home straight. The line of three fences here come up in quite quick succession for the field, ensuring jumping is put to the test inside the final three furlongs.

The four-year-old maiden at the spring fixture has been run over 2m4f, with the start located at the end of the back straight and this is a race won by Envoi Allen, the most joint most expensive four-year-old point-to-pointer during the 2017/18 season.
