Notebook made a likeable winning reappearance at Dromahane when he took a five-year-old geldings’ maiden. The John Nallen-trained winner was fifth at Ballindenisk before Christmas, where he effectively was having his first run of the season as he was a first fence faller four weeks prior. Benefiting from his experience as a four-year-old, Notebook disputed the lead before going two lengths clear with half a mile to race and kept on well in the home straight to extend his advantage to an impressive twelve lengths before the last. The son of Samum is out of winning mare, Nova and appeared to relish the good ground conditions. Notebook looks the sort that will be a real addition to any trainer’s yard over the coming seasons and can win his share of races when he makes the progression to park racing.
