Young Lieutenant (IRE)
4yo, B, Geld, Robin Des Champs (FR) – Be My Gesture (IRE) (Indian Danehill (IRE))
Young Lieutenant made a very promising debut at Oldcastle when finishing second to the progressive Easyrun De Vassy. The son of Robin Des Champs was ridden in mid-division before progressing to lead from the penultimate fence where he travelled well in front on the run to the final obstacle and was just headed on the run-in by the fast finishing winner. The Denis Murphy-rained gelding is from a high class national hunt family as his grand-dam is an own-sister to the 10-time and Grade one winner, Rhinestone Cowboy as well as being a half-sister to another Grade one winner in Wichita Lineman. This eye-catching runner-up lost little in defeat and highlighted himself as an exciting sort who will have a big future ahead of him on the track.
