Following two promising starts this spring whereby Cenotice finished fourth and third, the son of Phonenix Reach stepped up on his latest start to take the four-year-old maiden at Oldcastle. Waited with in rear before making steady headway over the final mile, the Michael Goff-trained gelding progressed to lead from the penultimate fence and quickly gained a strong advantage over his rivals to go away and win by three and a half lengths. Clearly relishing the good ground conditions, it is unsurprising to see he produced the quickest time of the day which was seven seconds faster than the day’s average. Out of a half-sister to the high class 11-time and Grade 2 winner Young Kenny, Cenotice has highlighted himself as an exciting sort that should be added to all serious short lists at the sales.
