Maypole Class made his debut at Ballysteen in April where he came to grief at the sixth fence. The Denis Murphy-trained gelding ran a cracker on his latest start at Loughanmore to finish just a length runner-up to the exciting Thunderstruck. Ridden prominently throughout, the son of Gold Well produced a strong challenge after the penultimate fence and progressed to lead before the final obstacle where he was just narrowly headed on the run-in. From the family of the nine-time winner and Grade 1 placed Majestic Concorde, Maypole Class lost little in defeat and looks like an exciting sort who will have a lot to offer to his new connections.
