Ask Ben made a very promising debut at Lisronagh in October when finishing fourth in a highly competitive four-year-old maiden and showed the benefit of the experience gained that day to run a creditable race at Ballysteen in April where he was runner-up to Danny Whizzbang. Taking up the lead from the fifth fence, the son of Ask set a strong gallop throughout before being headed at the penultimate fence where he kept on well in the home straight to take the runner-up position and finish only two and a half lengths behind the winner. From a family of talented track performers which includes Pealings and Cloudy Grey Ask Ben lost little in defeat and is bred to develop into a smart track sort that could have a lot to offer to new connections.
