Jamie Scallan began his riding career with the late Willie Codd, who supplied him with his first mount and winner, both of which came aboard the same horse, Flabello. Having made his pointing debut at Lingstown in November 2015, Scallan got off the mark aboard the Publisher gelding at Moira in October 2016. Scallan has certainly caught the attentions of many Wexford handlers, in particular Sean Doyle, which has developed into a strong association. It was on Doyle's Solomn Grundy that Scallan recorded his first track winner when the pair won the 2021 Tetretema Cup at Gowran Park.
