On The Sod lands Downpatrick Hunters Chase

The David Christie trained On The Sod justified his short price when claiming the Downpatrick Hunters Chase in good style in the hands of Barry O’Neill.

The son of Ask was at the head of affairs for most and kept on gamely from before last for a five and half length victory over the Barry Connell trained Timewaitsfornoone.

The four-times points winners had failed to complete on his latest two starts, when falling three from home whilst still in contention at Fairyhouse and he then pulled up on his latest outing in the Champion Hunters Chase at the Punchestown Festival.

The was the nine-year-old’s first victory since winning at Kirkistown in November for owners Kieran Mahon and Noel Keenan.

The Barry Connell trained Timwaitsfornoone showed some of his old spark when staying on well to pick up the runner-up spot in the hands of Michael O’Sullivan.
