Video Archives | Castletown-Geoghegan 2002

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2002 season.

The Westmeath Foxhounds point-to-point at The Castletown-Geoghegan is the next to feature in our video archive collection.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at the Westmeath Foxhounds point-to-point was by Merry Laughter in the hands of Norman Geraghty.

The five-year-old geldings maiden was won in good fashion by Oyster Shell and Robbie Moran.

Innisfree Girl claimed the five and six-year-old mares maiden when defeating Little For Lita by a length and a half.

Division two of the five and six-year-old mares maiden was won in good style by Ashfield Orchestra and Peter Buchanan.

The open lightweight provided spectators with a thrilling finish with The Spoofer and Gavin Cromwell just getting up close home to deny Indian Glen by a neck.  Gavin Cromwell now a successful trainer, trained the winner of the 2019 Cheltenham Champion Hurdle Espoir D’Allen.

Howya Pet was once again in the winners enclosure when claiming the winners of two contest in the hands of Gordon Elliott. Elliott also performed a flying dismount in the parade-ring afterwards.

Gordon Elliott registered a quick double when winning the opening division of the six-year-old and upwards geldings maiden aboard Light On The Broom

The concluding division of the six-year-old and upwards maiden was won by Saxo Du Rocher and Andrew Lynch.
