Video Archives | The Pigeons 2002

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2002 season.

The South Westmeath point-to-point at The Pigeons is the next to feature in our video archive collection.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at The Pigeons, the confined hunt race was won in good style by Tidaro Abbey in the hands of Mick Darcy.

Peter Buchanan was on the mark when winning the five and six-year-old maiden aboard Kilifi Creek.

The five-year-old and upwards mares maiden went the way of Elfie’s Last in the hands of David Broad. The pair were gifted the race with both leaders Fiddlers Bar (Gordon Elliott) and Mullahoran (Mick Darcy) coming to grief at the final fence.

Howya Pet added another victory to her tally when running out a 15-length winner of the winners of one contest.

The open lightweight saw an impressive winner in Hornblower who came home by a distance in the hands of Peter Buchanan for handler Sneezy Foster. The son of Goldneyev enjoyed a successful career between the flags winning three point-to-points and a hunters chase.

Errors Holm and John Quinn took the seven-year-old upwards maiden when coming home in front for a four length victory over Fairform.

The concluding race of the day, division two of the seven-year-old and upwards was won by Autumn Mist and P M Byrne.
