British Entries now open for valuable Lingstown Cross Country race

The upcoming Lingstown point-to-point on March 8th once again features a valuable Cross Country race, with the Hearne Line Marking Open worth €3,050.

This year’s race is also open to overseas horses, with the Killinick Harriers committee extending an invite to horses with an English or Welsh Hunter Certificate to run in the race.

Entries for Irish horses will close as usual at 12 noon on Tuesday 3rd March.

British connections should note that entries for horses with English or Welsh Hunter Certificates will close a day earlier at 1pm on Monday 2nd March, in order to allow the necessary checks to take place.

Entries cost €60 per horse, and UK entries can only be made by phoning the office on 00353 45885622. These UK entries are now open.

You will need the horse’s name, breeding, YOB, colour, sex, issuing hunt of your hunter cert, owner name, handler name, and a text description of the owner’s colours. A credit or debit card will be required in order to complete the entry.

Connections should be aware of the Irish vaccination rules:
•    Vaccinations have to be administered by a Veterinary Surgeon.
•    The horse must have received two primary vaccinations which are given not less than 21 days and no more than 92 days apart.
•    A booster vaccination may then be given not less than 150 days and not more than 215 days after the second component of the primary vaccination.
•    Booster vaccination at intervals not more than a year apart is required thereafter.
•    None of the vaccinations must have been given within the previous seven days of the race – i.e. there must be 6 clear days between day of administration and the day of the race.

Any British owner or handler interested in entering a horse for the race, should email a copy of their horse’s passport to info@p2p.ie and it will be reviewed by the IHRB to ensure it complies with the vaccination rules before travelling.

British-based riders will be required to hold the equivalent of an Irish A3 Licence to ride in the race, which is a dual Cat A Licence. Please note that a UK point-to-point certificate is not sufficient. The name of any British rider should also be submitted in advance for clearance.

For any queries, please phone the office on 00353-45885622 or email info@p2p.ie
