The death has been announced of Paddy Allen

Tributes have been paid to the Moira landowner Paddy Allen following his sudden passing.

The 35-year-old was a familiar face on the Northern Ireland Point-to-Point circuit and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

The Iveagh Hunt who have two point-to-point fixtures a year hold their meetings on the Allen Family land.

Paddy Allen was also instrumental in developing the Moira Equestrian Centre into a five star training and gallop facility having taken over after his father Jim passed away.

The top class facility is now used by many trainers in the locality and also plays host to many cross country events.

Allen, who previously worked as a sports journalist, was also keen cricket player and was associated with Waringstown Cricket Club, who postponed their Irish Cup quarter-final match as a mark of respect.

A member of Down Royal racecourse, he was also a former member of Lurgan Rugby Club and was a big supporter of Ulster Rugby, with former Ulster and Irish International Tommy Bowe amongst the many to pay tribute to him on social media.

Our thoughts are with Paddy’s mother Margaret and all his family and friends during this difficult time.
