Weekend Preview | Stradbally

Race 1: Tattersalls Ireland 5yo Geldings Maiden

USURPER was turned out quickly having shown promise on his debut at Oldcastle over Easter, however he could not improve upon that second placing when finishing fourth seven days later at Monksgrange. He is sure to have been freshened up since and could be the one to following on that opening effort.

Poncherello has been unable to repeat his debut performance from Lisronagh but could figure in this if bouncing back, whilst Sparta Maestro has not been seen since coming down at the final fence in Inchydoney 12 months ago.

Race 2: The Heffernan Family Winner Of Two

MYRONS could return back between the flags here having acquitted himself well in the hunter chase sphere where he finished within five lengths of Ucello Conti at Thurles and won most recently at Tramore. That form would leave him as the one to beat in this.

Oscar Academy goes in search of a third win of the season following his latest success at Bellurgan Park, whilst Golden Nomad and Ya Boy Ya are others that should find conditions in their favour.

Race 3: The Dowling Family 5yo Adjacent Maiden

COTTON ROCK should be a tough nut to crack in this following two narrow defeats of late, including his latest at Lisronagh which came at the hands of last weeks Downpatrick Hunter Chase victor My Oakclahome.

Glorious Ziva was only beaten by a neck in a similar contest around here last month and will have the advantage of the mares five-pound allowance, whilst Captain Commander did not factor in the recent Bishopscourt Cup but did make the frame at Dowth Hall in the autumn.

Race 4: Meadow Meats Ladies Open

SAMANNTOM has been in cracking form of late winning three races on the bounce since the middle of April and he will look to avenge his defeat to champion point horse contender Longhouse Music.

She returned in splendid isolation around here last month in a two-runner mares open and has since won a further two races to bring her total to ten for the season. Her chief champion point-to-point horse rival Kruzhlinin is the other danger.

Race 5: Design Options & Egans Off-Licence 6yo Mares Maiden

SEEUBACKINCOPPERS was upsides around here when coming down at the second-last fence in April and could well gain compensation this this.

Glorious Ziva is another to have shown form at this venue, having only been narrowly defeated against geldings here last month, whilst the Colin Bowe pairing of Ballinamona Flyer and Hello Pilgrim, alongside Uppertown Poppie and Lady Maureen are others for the shortlist.

Race 6: Laois Hire 6yo Geldings Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

TOP QUESTION has shown a good deal of improvement in recent times, culminating in just a narrow defeat in Dromahane late last month which should leave him as a big player in this.

Hellenic Fire made his seasonal re-appearance around here last month and then went on to run with credit on each of the following two weekends. Having shown promise at this course with his second placing he will surely not be too far away, alongside Bronco Bill, Mustmeetforapint and Goldazar.
