GAIN Equine Nutrition are delighted to continue their sponsorship of the ‘GAIN Mares Series’ for the 2021/2022 point-to-point season.
The opening race of the series will take place at the Tipperary Foxhounds point-to-point on Saturday November 6th and conclude in the spring with the much-coveted final taking place in Ballynoe, Co. Cork.
GAIN Equine Nutrition, along with the Ballynoe Point-to-Point committee will provide a €3,000 bonus for the winner of the final, as well as a half-tonne of feed for both second and third place in the race.
This year, the launch took place in Borris, Co. Carlow at local horse trainer Aidan Fitzgerald’s, Cobajay Stables. Aidan really enjoys training mares and worked with Michael Hourigan in 1993 when Patsy’s Darling won the GAIN Mares Series at Ballynoe.
Founder and Director of Irish Point-to-Point Services Richard Pugh said: “It’s great to have an initiative like the GAIN Mares Series which gives trainers something to point towards for the 2021-2022 season and its people buying to run in those races, that brings the next generation through and that is hugely important to Irish point-to-points.
"We are looking forward to this season like no other, we missed the final last year. The GAIN Mares Series final at Ballynoe is a real community affair, and we will enjoy making up for lost time and finding a winner of the GAIN Mares Series to go and fly the flag for mares.”
Joanne Hurley, Irish Country Manager, GAIN Equine Nutrition, commented; “It’s a fantastic series that we are delighted to be a part of for the past four decades. It is a great opportunity for us to support the grassroots of the national hunt industry. It’s great for us to be able to lend our support to this industry through this initiative.
"On behalf of GAIN Equine Nutrition, I would like to wish all connections the very best of luck for the point-to-point season ahead.”
