My Immortal out to follow up Ballycrystal success at Tipperary

Both editions of the P2P.ie point-to-point bumpers at Tipperary on Thursday evening will have capacity fields, with the mares-only race first up at 7pm and it is a race that has been won by the likes of For Bill in the past.

Less than a length separated Golden Bidar and Rosa Gloriosa when they finished and second and third behind Letthetruthbeknown at Cork in a similar even on Easter Monday and they are sure to be too the fore once again, with the latter having gone on to contest two further bumpers at Limerick and Kilbeggan last month – most recently finishing second at the Co. Westmeath venue under regular rider Eoin O’Brien.

The pair are two of six runners in the race who have finished placed on their latest outings to ensure that the race has a competitive look to it, and of them Decadio Lady will be the mount of champion point-to-point rider Barry O’Neill.

Oliver Power’s Arcadio mare returned from a near two-year absence back in march when coming through to finish second in a Ladies Bumper at a price of 40/1.

Sam Curling is doubly represented with recent course second Susie Miller set to be ridden by Derek O’Connor who had previously ridden Curling’s other runner, Fist Pumping Time to finish fourth to Derrylinda in a previous point-to-point bumper at the venue.

Susie Miller’s form at the Limerick Junction comes from the Scarteen point-to-point that took place there on April 11 when she finished behind Aaza, whilst Gerard Quirk runs his Lingstown winner Nancy Wyse who beat a number of notable types with that success but has had to settle for fourth at Wexford and Cork.

A further 16 horses feature in the geldings point-to-point bumper at 7.30pm which brings the card to a close with My Immortal set to have his first run since winning at Ballycrystal in October.

Under the care of Cormac Doyle for that success, the Shantou gelding defeated the subsequent two-time bumper winner Fruit N Nut on that occasion, and having been bought for £100,000 he now makes his first start under rules for owner-trainer Barry Connell.

With Jamie Codd suspended, Jim Dreaper has called upon the services of Patrick Mullins to ride his Fairyhouse runner-up Thelasthighking who has the advantage of recent race fitness with his debut performance coming just nine days after that effort.

Lisronagh runner-up Chicago Time, Enda Bolger’s Drewscourt, Patricks Hill – who was only beaten four lengths in a Wexford point-to-point bumper on his debut, and Prunella Dobbs’ four-year-old Kilnacarra, who is getting a significant weight advantage from each of his 15 rivals add further interest to the race.

The Tipperary card also where Ajijic, who won his first race in three years at Dromahane on Sunday, will look to quickly follow-up under Mikey O’Connor, with the returning Cardboard Gangster, Sliabh Mhuire Lass, Cardboard Gangster and Star Wizard among the opposition.
