PREVIEW | Meath & Tara at Fairyhouse Day 2

Day two of the Meath & Tara fixture at Fairyhouse includes the weekend’s only four-year-old mares’ maiden on a card which has attracted a total of 151 entries.

Race 1 – Goffs Punchestown Sale Honeysuckle 4YO Mares Maiden

There was less than a length separating TINTERN ABBEY and Springtime Promise when they made their respective debuts in a point-to-point bumper at Punchestown last month.

They finished behind the subsequent impressive Cork winner Jenny Flex on that occasion, and her stablemate, Harrys Hottie is the other interesting horse to consider in this given that she came through to take the second spot behind her last Saturday.

Race 2 – Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale 4YO Geldings Maiden

REGARDE is very well-bred being a close relation of The New One, and having cost E65,000 as a store he was sent off as the favourite for a Wexford point-to-point bumper last month.

Whilst unable to pick up in the home straight on that occasion and finishing behind the potentially re-opposing Right With Fury, he could well be a different prospect in this.

The entries are dominated with newcomers who are sure to play a bit part also.

Race 3 eCOMM Merchant Solutions 5YO Mares Maiden

TRICKALIGHT was an eye-catcher when coming through to finish second against proven rivals in a Mares Hunter Chase at Cork on Easter Monday and the drop back to maiden company here could be rewarded.

Ramble West was only narrowly beaten last Saturday and has posted two very creditable efforts but has to overcome a quick turnaround, whilst the twice-placed Sevenofus and the Ballingarry-third Diana Prince are others who can enter the equation on what we have seen from them this season.

Race 4 – Keoghs Crisps & INHSC Supporting Point-to-Points 5YO Geldings Maiden

The Denis Murphy team were among the winners in this category at Tipperary last Sunday and GREAT OCEAN would look to have the form to provide them with further success having run well in similar conditions at Ballingarry and Umma House early in the autumn term.

His return to action could be a winning one, with Since Day One, Coolvalla and Dorans Bridge the most likely threats.
