Video Archives | Roscommon 2003

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2003 season.

The County Roscommon Hunt point-to-point fixture at Roscommon is the next meeting to feature in the video archives section.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

Andrew Lynch was on the mark early when winning the five-year-old and upwards adjacent hunt maiden aboard Brogue Beauty.

Division two of the adjacent hunt maiden saw Gordon Elliott record his first winner of the afternoon when scoring aboard Clear The Line.

The opening division of the four-year-old maiden was won in good style by Oscar Brunel and John Thomas McNamara in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud.

Division two of the four-year-old saw Mr Cheetham and Kevin Power come home in front for an easy victory over Long Courrier.

Honey’s At Home supplied Elliott with this second winner of the afternoon when staying on well to land the opening division of the winners of one contest.

The Ted Walsh trained Never Compromise added another victory to his tally when winning the second division of the winners of two in the hands of Derek O’Connor. Never Compromise was crowned champion hunter chaser in 2004.

The open lightweight saw Edward Cawleys No Discount come home in front in the hands of Alan Crowe, the pair stayed on well from the last to deny Kerrys Cross and John Thomas McNamara by a length.

Simon McGonagle was in the winners enclosure when landing the six-year-old mares maiden aboard Devon Lady.

The six and seven-year-old geldings divided three-ways.  The opening division was won in good style by Gordon Elliott and Brenshaw, making it a treble on the day for the Meath rider.

Derek O’Connor got his second winner of the afternoon when taking the second division aboard Ferryport House.  (no video)

The concluding division saw John Thomas McNamara complete his double when winning aboard Bessmount Supreme. (no video)
