Video Archives | Loughbrickland February 2001

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2001 season.

The next fixture we are adding is the County Down Staghounds point-to-point at Loughbrickland in February 2001.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at the County Down Staghounds point-to-point fixture was good by Alphamyself and Denis Cullen.

The five and six-year-old mares maiden was won in good style by Rotoruasprings in the hands of Christopher Cosgrave.

Bay Island made it a pillar to post victory in the five-year-old geldings maiden under Saul McHugh.

It was a quick race double for Saul McHugh who came home in front of the six-year-old geldings maiden aboard Red Island

Go Go Gallant took the ladies open in the hands of Caroline Hutchinson when running out an eight-length victory over Double Impact. The son of Over The River was owned by Magill Family.

Warren Ewing was seen at his best when winning the seven-year-old and upwards mares maiden aboard Emily Rose when holding off the late challenge Cranfield Flyer by half a length.

The seven-year-old and upwards mares maiden was won in good style by Rowdy Nights and Liam Lennon. Rowdy Nights is the dam to many winners including Rowdy Rampage and Lord Multifix.

Warren Ewing completed a double on the day when running out a five -length victory of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden aboard Lobbingalong.

There was a dead heat to the concluding seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden with the judge not able to separate Flanaghan’s Way and Brian Hamilton and Mr Montana Saul McHugh. Jockey Saul McHugh won the Kim Muir Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2003 aboard Royal Predica.
