Video Archive | Loughbrickland March 2000

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  We are starting with the 2000 videos.

The next fixture we look at is the County Down Staghounds which had their meeting at Loughbrickland in March 2000.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

Brian Hamilton was on the mark early when taking the opening five and six-year-old mares maiden in good style aboard Crossmacahilly.

At this meeting in 2000 we get to see the talented Joe Blake win his five-year-old geldings maiden in the hands of Liam Lennon.  The son of Jurado had a very successful career hunter chasing, which includes winning the Champion Hunters Chase at Punchestown.

Although He’s My Boy and Leo Gracey past the post first in the six-year-old geldings maiden, Forte Uno and Warren Ewing were deemed to be winners owing to an identity issue of He’s My Boy.

The Ladies Open Lightweight went the way of Boyne Valley Hero in the hands of Susan Vance.

The eight-year-old daughter of Good Thyne, Aran-Na-Pogue ran out an easy victor of the seven-year-old mares maiden in the hands of Leo Gracey.

Kevin Ross was in the winner’s enclosure when Ten Poundsworth ran out a two and half-length victor of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden.

Division two of the seven-year-old & upwards geldings maiden saw a good battle with long-time leader Cuchulainn and Kevin Ross battling it out with eventual winner Narrow Water and Gordon Elliott.
