The northern season continues at Kirkistown this Saturday and Barry, clerk of the course updated us on how things are progressing for the fixture:

“Preparations are going very well for Saturday, we passed the Turf Club inspection this morning and the ground is soft, heavy in places. It’s dry and windy here at the moment and there is a small bit of rain forecasted for the morning.

"We have a nice enough entry and there is schooling after racing. The weather forecast looks good, we have the bar as usual and there will be a catering van as well.”

Killinick (H) at Lingstown on 24th Nov 2019

Number of Entries: 95
Admission: €10

Lingstown has attracted an entry of 95 horses.  The fixture plays host to a handler’s charity race in aid of Pieta House in association with Ask. The race will take place after the last race which is sure to attract a fine crowd, bidding to see all the handlers in action.

On Thursday Anita Ronan commented:

“Everything looks good for the weekend, we have had a bit of rain. The Turf Club inspection will take place in the morning and the ground is in good condition. We have the banks race again this year and it has attracted and entry of 11 which we are pleased with.

"There will be a chip van in attendance on the day and we will have our own hospitality tent which will have refreshments available and there will also be a bar. It is great for people to get in out of the weather and get something to eat or drink.”

Limerick (F) at Rathcannon on 24th Nov 2019

Following an IHRB inspection, the Limerick (F) Bruff point-to-point fixture at Rathcannon has been cancelled due to waterlogging.


West Waterford (F) at Boulta on 24th Nov 2019

A big galloping track, Boulta, which is also a popular schooling grounds, first held a point-to-point in 2002.The excellent condition and quality of the track historically has attracted a large number of entries from owners and trainers from all over Ireland. Held on the land of the Mulcahy’s, the track is hosting two fixtures in the space of three weeks before the season finishes up for Christmas.

On Thursday Kaye Moroney was kind enough to update us on how preparations were going.

“Everything looks good for Sunday; the track is ready. We have our inspection tomorrow, it rained heavily yesterday but the track needed it and its perfect racing ground now.

"We will have a hospitality area and all donations will go towards Cork Mental Health, along with Kearney's chipper being on site. Schooling will take place after racing has finished.”
