Weekend Preview | Toomebridge 05th October

Race 1: J Kernoghan Salvage 4yo Mares Maiden

Representing that same connections as those that produced her half-brother, the now Grade 1-winning Samcro, to win on his debut at Monksgrange in 2016, it was no surprise that OVERNIGHT SUCCESS was sent off as the favourite for her own competitive bow at Bartlemy in May.

The daughter of Jeremy offered plenty of promise on that occasion before weakening into fourth on the run-in and sets the standard here.

Noel Kelly had a day to remember at this fixture last year, and both of his entries, One For Susie and the Stowlin-placed High Charlie, look to be the main dangers.

Race 2: Dennison Commercials Ltd 4yo Geldings Maiden

TEXAS GOLD improved from his Lismore debut when chasing home Calthor at Ballysteen last April, and if continuing in that vein here, he could be the one to beat for Donnchadh Doyle.

Colin Bowe sent out Golden Nomad to win this race 12 months ago, and his Ahead Of Schedule built up a great deal of experience last season, which will really stand to him around a course like this, whilst Ballingarry-fourth Junior Rattler, and track recruit First One Dana, who has the advantage of having been running through the summer, are others to note.

Race 3: Raymart 5&6yo Geldings Maiden

TARDREE offered some promise when placing at Dowth Hall on his debut 12 months ago and will have every chance in a very wide open race likes this.

Pyrios is back in maiden company despite crossing the line in front at Loughanmore last May, as he was disqualified during the summer.

Track recruit Great Fairy has joined Colin McBratney from Neil Mulholland with a mark of 96 over hurdles, whilst Going Solo, an unlucky final fence casualty at Toombebridge, was sixth on this card last year when with Warren Ewing, and has since joined Neil Gault.

Race 4: Dennison JCB Winner of One

PENNYFORAPOUND has not been seen since he made a winning debut on the corresponding weekend 12 months ago, when he won the four-year-old maiden at Castletown-Geoghegan.

As a four-year-old winner he has to respected alongside Some Man, who is also a four-year-old maiden winner. His success coming at Portrush in 2017. He is back in the pointing fields having run just three times since for Paul Nicholls, and this will be his stable debut, whilst Benefit North, Lorenzo and Samurai Cracker are others on the shortlist.

Race 5: City Auctions Group 5yo+ Mares Maiden

BOOMTIME BANKER looked likely to play a big part in the outcome of a big-field maiden at Tralee late last season, only to come down at the penultimate fence.

That form line stands out amongst her other rivals in here who have previously run. Timber Tang Girl could give her most to worry about of those with experience, whilst the newcomers have to also enter the reckoning in a race like this.

Race 6: N F D Livestock 7yo+ Geldings Maiden

The race fit BACK TO BATAAN has been forced to settle for the runners-up spot in all three of his previous completed outings in the point-to-point fields, and looks the one to beat here having been running over hurdles during the summer, where he finished a fine second at Sligo on his penultimate outing.

The Bolder Boy was clearly expected to have won his maiden last season, having been sent off as the favourite on each of his last two outings, including when well-backed at Armagh in February, ensuring he can be expected to get involved, alongside Tyrella-third Paddys Hill, who is another horse that has been a market mover in the past.
