WEEKEND PREVIEW: Durrow (Sunday)

Race 1: ITBA & Dunnes Stores 5yo Mares Maiden

Trainer Shirley Berry won this race in 2016 with Wishicould and she will certainly have high hopes of a repeat bid in this years renewal with her charge BURN BABY BYRNE. Second at Belclare on her debut two weeks ago, the Malinas mare can go one place better here. Devitosredrobin, Beeverstown Beauty, Potters Vision and Wetbehindtheears, are other recent second placed finishers in this competitive contest, whilst track placed Leeswood Lily has finished third in a Carlisle bumper.

Race 2: Tom Malone Bloodstock Winner Of One

OWL CREEK BRIDGE stepped-up to make a winning seasonal reappearance at Bandon last month and he could remain unbeaten for the current season with success in this. Thunderosa disappointed when beaten at short odds in Armagh but he has finished in front of the potentially re-opposing Commanding Spirit here when they met at Tyrella and may have the measure of that rival.

Race 3: Glenwood, Tullamore 7yo+ Mares Maiden

RAPHENA ROSE beat two subsequent maiden winners home at Turtulla in November when just five lengths behind recent wide-margin scorer Cloudy Day in a notable piece of form which should see her more than capable of taking a race like this. Rainbows At Dawn was held back by jumping issues during the autumn, but a clean round would see her go close on what she showed at Ballinaboola and Lingstown, whilst the likes of Whispering Hope, Vivalino, Think Of Me and Shauna Dream are all horses for the short list.

Race 4: Glenwood, Tullamore Ladies Open

The Warren Ewing-trained GROUND INVASION took a big step forward when lowering the colours of a former Grade 1 winner in atrocious conditions at Kirkistown earlier this month, and he could get into a winning run here. 14-year-old veteran Aughnacuraveel could not land a blow on his reappearance in the autumn, but can rarely be discounted, whilst Longhouse Music, a winner at Tyrella on Monday, and regular front runners Rattle The Cage and Mart Lane are others that have been running well this season.

Race 5: Coolmore NH & Tullamore Agri 5yo+ Adjacent Maiden

BROADWAY STAR offered a great deal of promise with his opening effort at Tyrella in January, a race which has already produced two subsequent winners, and he can add to that by coming out on top here. Donjon has switched yards since running in three four-year-old maidens for Gordon Elliott, and this is a drop in class, whilst Loughrea third, Definite Plan, can step-up from this reappearance at Tinahely earlier in the campaign.

Race 6: 7yo+ Geldings Maiden

The eight-year-old TIPPINAWAYNOW posted a definite career best when he finished a close second at Belclare a fortnight ago and his connections will have high hopes of him getting his head in front in this wide open looking race. With little separating the likes of Coach Road, Laces Out, Major Milan and So Rustic this race could be quite keenly contested.
