Eddies Miracle registered his first win under rules when he scored in the Daily Mirror hunter chase at Down Royal under Barry O’Neill who also rode a winner at Tyrella this afternoon.
The son of Beat Of Drums was a winner twice this season at Ballinaboola in November and again at Tyrella in January.
Carrying the colours of Ray Nicholas, the David Christie-trained winner got off the mark in point-to-points at Ballinaboola last February before winning a further three point-to-points last spring.
The 10-year-old was ridden prominently throughout and crept into contention from the fourth last fence where he progressed to take over the lead from the long-time leader Clondaw Frisby under Mark O’Hare at the penultimate fence and soon gained a comfortable lead to win by five lengths at the finish.
The Jerry Cosgrave-trained runner-up Clondaw Frisby, was bidding to follow up his success at Armagh last month which was the nine-year-olds fifth win in point-to-points to date.
Third home was the veteran of the field, Enniskillen, for the Peter Maher yard while the Jim Dreaper-trained-Sizingdowntherhine took the fourth spot.
