Race 1: Tallis & Co and Aidan Brophy 5yo Geldings Maiden
OLD RASCALS blotted his record when he ran out at Borris House last Friday when fancied to run well having finished second on his debut at Cragmore in testing conditions in February. The Ask gelding should be given a second chance here to win a race which has produced Neon Wolf and Martello Tower in recent years. Exit Eleven and Dancing Dave both showed some encouragement on their respective debuts, whilst the market will give a good guide as to what can be expected from the newcomers.
Race 2: Gain Horse Feeds 5yo Mares Maiden
ROSIE AND MILLIE was turned over at short odds at Lingstown, and she will look to gain quick compensation here, having offered plenty of promise at both Borris House and Kildorrery already this season. Whispering Hope disappointed at Ballinaboola on her latest outing, but if she was to recapture her run against geldings at Knockinroe in the Autumn, she would be a danger, as she got within five-lengths of Buckie Cullen, a horse that won his winners race by a distance last month. Bellharbour runner-up Rollercoster and perennial third Its All A Lark are others that can go close.
Race 3: Dicks SuperValu, Ballyragget 5yo Adjacent Maiden
NEWLANDS CROSS has been a thoroughly consistent performer to date, and he enters what is probably his best opportunity for a maiden success to date, fresh from a promising third at Lingstown last Sunday. Stable companion Windy Bottom has placed form from Borris to her name, track recruit Simply Gooch was third in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse back in 2016 and will look to give his new trainer Aidan Fitzgerald back-to-back successes in this race, whilst Where Now could be a danger with a clear round of jumping.
Race 4: Connollys Red Mills Open
Former Grade 1 winner MORNING ASSEMBLY missed out on a last minute opportunity to qualify for this weeks Cheltenham Festival when he unshipped at the opening fence at Tinahely last month. He can likely return to winning ways in this. Longhouse Music is a mare that has been running particularly well this season, and it would not be a big surprise to see her put up a bold show on her first outing in open company, whilst Drawn N Drank is a stout stayer who will be doing his best work late on.
Race 5: John Dalton & Sons, Chancellors Mills Winner of One
OSCAR CONTENDER was in front when falling four-out in the adjacent maiden on this card 12 months ago, and he can right that wrong in this contest, to follow-up his clear-cut maiden success at Punchestown last month. Financial Outcome battled best in a close finish at Tinahely and can go close here, whilst the mare Sheila Tanist, who only won her maiden in very testing ground at Ballyarthur last Sunday, could make a quick reappearance here and is a consistent individual.
Race 6: John Phelan & Co and John Holland 6yo Geldings Maiden
PUTHIMINYOURPOCKET was the hard luck story of the Tallow maiden that he made his debut in, as he was badly hampered with two to jump, before powering home late, and only went down by a narrow margin. He looks the obvious selection for this. Sommerton ran his best race for a good while to finish third at Punchestown, whilst Where Now is a horse who has shown some promise, but he has failed to complete his last three starts which he will need to overcome.
