Gordon Elliot Stable Tour

(Death Duty pictured)

Brian Sheerin from the Racing Post visited Gordon Elliott’s yard which is featured on day one of the Racing Post Jumps Stable Tour.

Elliott who started training in 2006 has established himself as one of Irelands top trainers, he saddled a total of 193 winners in Ireland alone last season.

Cullentra Stables have another strong team for this season and have some decent former Irish Pointers to look forward to, some of which were highlighted in Mondays Racing Post.

Ball D’Arc- "had a super season last year and will hopefully remain competitive in races between 2m and 2m4f and should pick up plenty of cheques this season."

Battleoverdoyen – won his point-to-point maiden at Loughanmore for handler Jerry Cosgrave and will go down the bumper route.

Blue Empyrean – won his bumper at Downpatrick last season and "should not have a problem to get his head in front over the season."

Burren Life – "ran well in a Listed novice hurdle at Limerick two weeks ago and should make a nice chaser this season when he goes over fences."

Cocktails At Dawn – who was an unlucky final fence faller at Horse and Jockey on his debut, "was being aimed for the American Grand National before he pulled a muscle and will probably be aimed for the cross-country race at Cheltenham."

Cool Getaway – won his four-year-old maiden at Tattersalls last November and " is an exciting sort to go hurdling with in the next few weeks."

Death Duty – is one of Elliot’s most exciting horses for this season. A Grade one winner last January, the former Cragmore winner made an impressive start over fences and will hopefully a big season ahead.

De Plotting Shed – "is a solid type who’s built for chasing. He put in some solid displays over hurdles and is an exciting sort for novice chases."

Defi Bleu – finished four lengths behind the ill-fated Flemenshill at Oldtown in February. "He will start off in a bumper and is a nice horse for the future."

Doctor Phoenix –"has some solid form in handicap chases while in England. He will hopefully be a fun horse for the season ahead."

Double Portrait – having been placed on two starts in point-to-points he stepped up to take the point-to-point bumper in Cork.  "He is going to make a nice novice hurdler and will end up going over fences."

Empire Burleque – dead heated in his four-year-old maiden at Balindenisk last December. A good looking son of Cape Cross, "he won his bumper at Fairyhouse before going for a break. He looks great and will go hurdling soon."

Fagan – "ran well behind Ballyandy last time out and will be aimed 3m novice chase at Cheltenham in October and could be a horse for the four miler at the festival."

Felix Desjy – was an impressive winner of his four-year-old maiden at Dromahane in March and will run in a bumper over the coming weeks.

Flawless Escape – was runner-up in his four-year-old maiden at Lingstown and "won his bumper well at Roscommon last month. He will go over hurdles now."

Free Expression – "has some decent form in Graded company a few years ago but had a few problems along the way. He is more than capable of winning a nice handicap over the season."

Fullasthesea – was an impressive winner of his four-year-old maiden at Maralin in March and will start off in bumpers.

General Principle – "ran well in the Irish Grand National this year and will hopefully have his day in a big handicap this year."

Gun Digger – was a runner-up in a four-year-old maiden at Largy in 2016 but "he had a few problems so he didn’t get to run yet this year."

Hardline – won his point-to-point at Punchestown in 2016 and "has had some good runs in bumpers this year."

Invincible Cave – was an easy winner of his four-year-old maiden at Bartlemy in May. "He has been working well and is an exciting sort for the season."

It’s All Guesswork – has been a consistent sort this year and "will go to the Cheltenham October meeting for a novice hurdle."

Jetstream Jackwon his point to point maiden at Affane for handler Eoin Doyle and "is yet to come back into training but will be aimed for handicap chases over the winter months."

Jury Duty – who was placed in his point-to-point maiden at Ballyarthur for handler JP Flavin, "is a solid performer for connections having finished third in the Pertemps at Cheltenham. He will be aimed at the National hunt chase during the festival."

Check back in tomorrow when we will have a look through the remaining point-to-pointers that Gordon has for the season ahead.
