Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner Lord Windermere Gets a Hunter Cert

Lord Windermere, who won both the 2014 Cheltenham Gold Cup and the 2013 RSA chase is amongst the headline horses in this week’s Hunter Certificate list.

The Dr Lambe-owned eleven-year-old has won six races on the track which includes two Grade one chases as well as a Listed hurdle at Punchestown. The son of Oscar was a 20/1 winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup when he beat On His Own by a short head having finished sixth in the Hennessey Gold Cup at Leopardstown on his previous run.

The Jim Culloty-trained gelding is joined by his half-brother, It Came To Pass, (pictured) on this week’s list who fell in the 2016 Cheltenham Foxhunter’s having won the Limerick hunter chase in 2015.

Another former Grade One winner to get a hunter certificate is Lac Fontana. The eight-year-old, who was trained by Paul Nicholls to victory in five races on the track is now in the care of Paurick O’Connor.

The son of Shirocco won the Grade one Pertemps Network Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in 2014 as well as the Grade three Vincent O'Brien County Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham where he beat Artic Fire by half a length.
