Clondaw Anchor ran a cracker when second on his debut in a strong maiden at Boulta in November. One of five newcomers in the line-up the son of Stowaway posted a strong front-running display having led from flag fall and was only headed at the final fence where he ended up runner-up to a more experienced rival on the day. The time of the race was the quickest of the six races and was run 15 seconds above the average of the day. Out of Masiana who was placed in a bumper and is also a daughter of the Group 3 runner-up Masilia, Clondaw Anchor is a half-brother to the bumper and hurdle winner, The Welsh Paddies and is also from the family of the exciting Grade 2 Peregrine Run. Having posted such a strong run, this well-bred gelding lost little in defeat and is a very likeable youngster with a lot to offer it seems.
